Subdivision Trainer Metronome For Drummers

Settings

Switch to standard metronome

4 / 4

How to use the subdivision trainer

First set the number of quarter notes per bar, then choose a subdivision: eighth notes, eighth note triplets, or sixteenth notes. Each beat is split into that many clicks, with the downbeat accented so you can always hear where beat 1 falls.

Next set the BPM and click "Start". The row of numbers and syllables shows the count for the whole bar (e.g. "1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &" for eighth notes), and each note flashes as it plays.

To train your internal sense of subdivision, turn on Mute subdivisions. This randomly silences some of the off-beat clicks while keeping the main beat audible, forcing you to keep subdividing internally instead of relying on the click.

Start with mute off at a comfortable tempo, then gradually increase the mute percentage as your timing improves.
