Music runs in Kyle’s family. His grandfather was a stage performer and musician during the ‘big band’ era and his father was a drummer as well.
After struggling with the guitar at an early age, Kyle eventually took advantage of the drum set that was always sitting in his basement. After a few lessons on the drums from Kyle’s father and having the realization that drums came much more naturally, it was clear that playing the drums was the correct path moving forward.
Kyle joined a band on his first day of highschool with a group of older kids and he and the other misfits went on to form a punk/rock band that carried on for years after high school, which included touring much of Ontario, Canada.
In the years after, Kyle has performed with various other cover and original bands, taking the stage in venues all over Ontario, Canada as well as a few in the United States.
In 2021, Kyle auditioned for a competition at a local recording studio. After performing the song ‘Pardon Me’ by Incubus, Kyle earned a spot in the competition and bands were drafted by other musicians that played the role of ‘coach’, for their respective team. Each band was required to write five original songs and perform for a judging panel.
Kyle’s band went on to win the competition and brought Kyle back into the realm of performing on stage, after the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s restrictions had been lifted from Canada in early 2022.
The focus has now turned to learning more of the technical-side of drumming with a goal of becoming a teacher in the future.
